Plovdiv is the second biggest city in Bulgaria – an important strategic, industrial, commercial, scientific, cultural and communications centre.
It is situated at a distance of 150 km from Sofia, in the central area of South Bulgaria, 160 m above sea level and spread along the two banks of Maritsa River.
